Code of Ethics

Purpose and scope

The Belong Code of Ethics sets out principles and standards of conduct that ensure a safe, respectful and professional environment for all users of the Belong platform – service providers, customers, partners and Belong team. The Code applies to all Belong environments as well as to events organised under the Belong brand or marketed by Belong.

1. Belong values

The following values and principles guide our actions:

Living for integrity – we support integrity in people, relationships and communities; we see people as part of an integrated ecosystem.

Human dignity and equality – every human being deserves respect, fair treatment and security.

Inclusiveness and community – creating a platform where differences are valued and collaboration is the norm.

Professionalism and accountability – we act within the limits of our competence, with integrity, transparency and care.

Data protection – We respect privacy and treat data with care and purpose.

2. Definitions

Service Provider – a person or organisation providing services and/or events on the Belonging Platform.

Client – a person interested in, consuming or registering for an event.

Event – a public or private activity (workshop, training, lecture, etc.) published on the Belong platform.

Sensitive information – personal data, including special categories of personal data (physical or mental health, racial or ethnic origin, etc. sensitive information for data protection purposes).

3. General principles

Human rights, autonomy and equal treatment. No one is discriminated against on the basis of race, language, nationality, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, religion, belief, economic status or any other characteristic.

Security and harm prevention. We create a psychologically and physically safe space; interventions are proportionate, participants are not pressured or manipulated.

Focus on professionalism. Belong supports professional quality standards and promotes cooperation with professional associations.

Fair marketing and transparency. Content and promises are consistent; we avoid overselling, hidden influence and misleading claims.

Prevention of conflicts of interest. We avoid situations that could undermine impartiality.

4. Standards for Service Providers

Belong expects Service Providers to comply with its professional Code of Ethics. If the professional code of ethics is stricter, the stricter standard will be followed.

Competence and role elucidation

  • Truthfully describe your qualifications, training and experience.
  • Not offering services without the appropriate competence; cooperating with other professionals and referring the client when the client’s issue requires it.

Confidentiality and data protection

  • Collecting and processing only the necessary data; storing data securely and setting a reasonable retention period.
  • Ensuring customer anonymity and not using participants’ stories or images in marketing without customer consent.
  • If necessary, clarification of cases where confidentiality is subject to legal limits (e.g. threat to life/health, legal obligation).
  • The personal and organisational pages published on the platform are designed to support transparency and reusability; they must be created and modified with respect for truthfulness, respect and the law. In the event of abuse, Belong may restrict access.

Safety and liability

  • Risk assessment (e.g. mental health crisis, trauma trigger, room safety).
  • Provision of follow-up information (including crisis hotlines).
  • When working with minors, parental/guardian consent and child protection principles are required.

5. Rights and obligations of customers

  • The right to a safe, respectful and non-discriminatory space.
  • The right to clear information and informed choice; the right to withdraw from a service or event.
  • Obligation to maintain the agreed confidentiality, to communicate respectfully, to follow the Provider’s rules.

6. Community rules and moderation

The following are prohibited

  • incitement to hatred, hate speech, humiliation, threats, mental harassment;
  • public “resolution” of personal conflicts;
  • deliberate dissemination of false information;
  • disclosing another person’s sensitive information without a clear basis;
  • fraud, undercover selling, intrusive recruitment;
  • pornography and sexual harassment;
  • illegal activities.

Belong has the right to remove content, suspend or terminate a user account, suspend the display of an event and notify partners/authorities if there is a suspicion of infringement.

7. Handling complaints and infringements

Who do we receive complaints from? From all platform users, partners and the public.

How to make a complaint? Via web form or e-mail; if possible, attach screenshots, correspondence, etc. references.

How do we handle a complaint? Initial confirmation and risk assessment; gathering information and hearing the party; decision and action (e.g. warning, removal of content, temporary suspension of account, termination of cooperation, deletion of account). In the case of serious violations or threats, we will involve partner organisations or competent authorities.

8. Ethics licence

As a user of the Belong platform, I can confirm that:

  • I have read and understand the Belonging Code of Ethics;
  • I follow the Code in my activities;
  • I understand that in the event of a breach, Belong may take moderation and contractual measures.
