Coaching with systemic constellation: the interaction of two methods

In today’s fast-paced world, many professionals, managers and teams face difficult challenges: invisible tensions in the team, decisions that seem to have no logical answer, or a gut feeling that “something is missing”. Coaching with Systemic Constellation offers a novel and profound approach to understanding and resolving these patterns.
What is coaching with a systemic constellation?
This methodology combines the clarity and purposefulness of classical coaching with an in-depth understanding of the systemic constellation. The result is the creation of a deeper understanding of both visible and hidden dynamics – be they related to personal development, the internal climate of teams or organisational goals.
Systemic constellation here refers to a method of looking at a problem or goal in a system – such as a work group, an organisation or a relationship – taking into account both visible roles and subconscious loyalties, omitted elements and historical patterns.
When a new employee is hired to replace an employee who has left a conflict situation, the same systemic patterns tend to repeat themselves and the dynamics remain the same. Constellation work can help to highlight such patterns and change the dynamics.

How is it useful for a professional?
- For managers and teams: helps to detect invisible obstacles to strategic development or teamwork.
- For coaches and therapists: adds a deeper systemic perspective to the toolbox.
- For organisational developers: reveals hidden dynamics that hinder change or reduce impact.
The result is clarity, coherence and sustainable development at both individual and organisational levels.

Training in Estonia
In Estonia, the Intelligent Group has organised training courses in 2024 and 2025.
The training was conducted by experienced practitioner Kim Leischner, who brings together systemic work, body awareness and transformational leadership practice in her work.
Description of the programme on the training page:
“This programme is suitable for anyone whose work involves counselling and supporting others. The programme is also well suited to coaches who want to broaden their coaching sessions and bring an even wider range of information to the client’s attention, and to look at this information at a systemic level.”
You can read more about the training on the Intelligentne.ee training page.
How does coaching work with a systemic constellation?
The method can take place:
- in an individual format using symbols, figurines or imagination,
- in group work, where other people represent elements of the system (e.g. colleagues, roles, values).
It is important that the agents do not play roles like actors, but act as receivers – often expressing emotions or attitudes that are difficult for the client to articulate. This process of making things visible creates a strong basis for clarity and decisions.
Deep impact
The effects of the method can be immediate or shortly afterwards – triggering a deep systemic shift that can last for weeks or months. Many professionals describe its aftermath:
- increased self-confidence,
- reduced internal stresses,
- the ability to make difficult decisions calmly and in a coherent way,
- or just a sense that “things are in place”.

Where to learn about constellations?
If you’re a professional who wants to:
- integrate a new systemic approach into their work,
- increase the impact your work has on people and organisations,
- or find an effective tool to deal with difficult situations,
then coaching with a systemic constellation is a worthwhile investment.
In Estonia, the constellation method is taught by the following organisations with a focus on:
Summary
Coaching with a systemic constellation is a profoundly transformative approach with roots in psychotherapy and organisational psychology. It is ideally suited to professionals who want to transform invisible patterns into work performance, decisions into empowerment, and teams into living, breathing wholes.
